In November 2021, we were excited to announce our upcoming Artist in Residence and ArtLab workshop host Mark Tweedie. Mark Tweedie is a West Australian figurative artist whose work is characterised by family, memory and ageing themes.

He is particularly interested in exploring formative childhood years, connection to place, and lineage. Tweedie examines treasured family photographs to construct dynamic and haunting narratives. He exhibits nationally and has been a finalist in major art prizes, including the ​Kilgour, the Blake, and the Sunshine Coast Art Prize.

We couldn’t wait to have him here at our community art centre, along with all your heartfelt reiterations of nostalgia. Mark joined us for a few weeks and participated in our 9x5 Community Auction and Fundraiser. His submission was auctioned off for the most considerable amount of the $14,000 from the 175 boards.
