Seeder Futures Exhibition

Artist in Residence Ana Tiquia has returned to complete Seeder Futures, the artwork she has been developing over the last 12 months as a part of her SPACED Rural Utopias residency here at the Cannery Arts Centre in Kepa Kurl / Esperance.

The exhibition at the Esperance Museum will feature videos of Esperance community members who actively give and share with others through diverse community initiatives. The video installation features interviews with Annie Dabb, Christiane Smith, Jennene Riggs, Karli Florisson, Kat Walkerden, Katie White, Kyron Smithson, Megan McDowall and Sam Starcevich.

The project is deeply inspired by the generosity and community spirit of the people of Esperance. Ana had the opportunity to witness the remarkable acts of giving, sharing, and volunteering of time, knowledge, skills, and resources during her stay in the Esperance community. "Seeder Futures" encapsulates the ethos of giving and explores the concept of gift economies within a community. It serves as a reflection and celebration of the essential role that giving plays in building and strengthening a connected and vibrant community.

Seeding Afternoon - become a community curator!

Artist in Residence Ana Tiquia has returned to complete Seeder Futures, the artwork she has been developing over the last 12 months as a part of her SPACED Rural Utopias residency here at the Cannery Arts Centre in Kepa Kurl / Esperance.

Seeder Futures is a shared digital folder featuring works from the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) State Art Collection and a collection of videos of Esperance community members who actively practice giving and sharing through diverse community initiatives. The folder will be collectively hosted by Esperance community curators, and on a PC at AGWA.

This is hugely exciting, as AGWA have never made their public domain collection available to the public in high resolution before. The Esperance community will gain first access to this collection through the artwork.

Ana invites you to become a 'seeder' or community curator and custodian of this artwork – which enables you to access the work as well as host it, from your mobile device or PC. More information will be provided.

Join Ana for afternoon tea at the Cannery where you can view this unique collection of artworks, find out more about what's involved in being a community curator, and for those who are keen Ana will be available to help anyone who wants to join the community curator team to access and host the collection on their mobile device or PC.

Please RSVP before 3 November to katie@canneryarts.com.au
