An escape from the outdoor elements
An interactive exhibition alongside the Esperance Art Awards 2024
ART ROOM GALLERY
The elements surround us everywhere we go, and we’ve all experienced them in one way or another. If you’ve made your way to Kepa Kurl – Esperance, you’ve witnessed just how unique the elements are in this place.
The wild waters with their hypnotising blue hues. The strong gusts of wind sending shivers down your spine. The hard granite rocks absorbing the harsh sun, offering a warm, gentle hug after a swim. The bushes, touched by the breeze, whispering old tales into your ears.
This summer, we invite you to express your connection to the elements of Esperance. Whether it’s your home, a destination you return to, or just a place you’re passing through, bring your story to life at the Cannery Arts Centre.
Inspired by Oscar Munrillo’s The Flooded Garden at the Tate, and in collaboration with Australia’s Golden Outback, this interactive project invites participants of all ages to contribute to a collaborative community artwork. Running over the school holidays, we will explore a different element each week. Layer by layer, we will celebrate the beauty and spirit of Esperance.
Join us and let your creativity flow.
This project includes painting with brushes and house paint, so be sure to dress in clothes you don’t mind getting messy! Parents and guardians, please note: children must be supervised at all times.
